About Waiakalua 

This easement is located in the moku of Ko‘olau and the Waiakalua ahupua‘a.  This easement allows for the preservation of wildlife habitat.  Placing an easement on these lands has resulted in the preservation of wildlife habitat, native plants, and the marine shoreline.  The Naupaka (Scaevola taccada), Niu (Cocos nucifera), Hala (Pandanus tectorius), Koai‘e kea (dwarf koa- Acacia koaia) are some of the plants found in the area, as well as animals such as the Nēnē (Hawaiian goose-Branta sandvicensis or sandwicensis) and Mōlī (Laysan Albatross- Phoebastria immutabilis) call this area home.
