The event is sold out!

We appreciate all our donors, sponsors, and partners and look forward to seeing you all in January.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2025

We proudly present the 23rd annual Buy Back the Beach benefit lūʻau, an island style pā‘ina under the stars raising vital operational support for Hawai‘i Land Trust. We are excited to return to the Old Lāhainā Lūʻau and are incredibly grateful for their support of our return.

Hawaiʻi Land Trust serves as a dedicated partner, working with communities across the state to protect and steward invaluable coastal landscapes, farms and ranches, and wahi kupuna that define our unique heritage.

Buy Back the Beach, one of Maui’s most sought-after and exciting events, sells out each year! Your participation in this event directly supports HILT’s mission to protect and steward the lands that sustain Hawai‘i and enables HILT to effectively meet land conservation needs on Maui and the rest of the State.

Each year Hawai‘i Land Trust recognizes a person, group, or organization that has made a substantial impact on land conservation in Hawai‘i. The Lindsey family is a tireless advocate for the preservation and restoration of Hawaiian culture and lands. Edwin “Ed” Lindsey, a lifelong teacher and gifted communicator known for his ability to build bridges among diverse groups, and his wife, Puanani, founded Maui Cultural Lands, Inc. (MCL) in 2002 to restore the Honokawai Valley. His son, Edwin “Ekolu” Lindsey, took over his legacy following his passing in 2009.

Today, the grassroots land trust continues to further Ed’s mission by working across three main cultural land assets on Maui: Honokowai Valley, Malama Launiupoko, and Malama Kaheawa-Hanaula through reforestation, archaeological stabilization, and education.
