ABOUT MĀKILA NUI
Working in partnership with West Maui Lands LLC, HILT protected this 223 acre site which includes an unusual geologic feature known as trachyte. The protection of this area ensures the longevity of threatened and endangered native plants including ‘Iliahi (Hawaiian Sandalwood). HILT works closely with the landowners in the area to ensure the perpetual protection of these plants as well as the archaeological sites of the area.
